PeopleTec is currently seeking a Microelectronics Single Event Effects (SEE) Diagnostic Laser Scientist to support our Huntsville, AL location.

 

PeopleTec is seeking a motivated self-starter who is interested in joining an award-winning company and working with cutting edge technologies in the defense of the United States.   The selected candidate will be a member of our dynamic Huntsville team and will work on essential activities to manage and assess the effectiveness of programs critical to the United States Missile Defense Agency and other DoD customers.

 

Our team supports the Missile Defense Agency and its industry partners for the survivability of military systems when subjected to the effects of nuclear weapons and natural space radiation environments, principally radiation effects. The intensity of effects to be survived is determined through the use of accepted models and simulations developed by the Defense radiation survivability Community of Interest (COI).  Our PeopleTec employee-owners are key members of a Survivability Team that integrates M&S, Subject matter Expertise, and analysis across the development life cycle for MDA and other US government agencies. Our team is using an Ultra-Short Pulsed Laser (USPL)to verify radiation hardness of critical microelectronic weapon system components. The ideal candidate will have experience designing laser experiments, operating lasers in a laboratory setting. expert knowledge of design principals critical to mission survivability of missile defense systems designed to survive and operate in/through nuclear environment, and experience writing and publishing articles in leading technical journals.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Familiarity with high-end commercial laser laboratory operations, including observing laser safety requirements.
  • Understanding and developing solutions to support emerging needs in a dynamic environment
  • Assisting with the planning and execution of Pulsed Laser Single Event Effects testing of electronic integrated circuits.
  • Designing and executing experimental USPL test plans and regimes to determine radiation hardness of Off-the-Shelf Microelectronic components
  • Daily interaction with Senior Scientist staff of MDA and the US Army Aviation and Missile Center to plan future experimental activities.
  • Designing and executing fundamental research related to improving the state of the art in Laser testing of microelectronic radiation hardness
  • In collaboration with Program Leadership and MDA customers, writing and publishing articles in leading technical journals reporting on the procedures and results for testing conducted.
  • Communicating written and oral test results to industry gatherings and other stakeholders within the company and within MDA and other government agencies.
  • Coordinating with stakeholders in MDA and other government agencies on test plans, system designs, requirements, data analysis, and documentation of results.
  • Use of standard and evolving M&S including community-standard Laser propagation modeling tools.
  • Experience with common programming languages (e.g., Labview, Python, C/C++/C#, Java)
  • Knowledgeable with current DoD and military standards associated with various effects of nuclear weapons and radiation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
  • Ability to quickly learn new computing hardware, software and technologies.
  • Ability to follow instructions and collaboratively work in a team environment.
  • Ideal candidate should be a self-starter and problem solver who can efficiently manage time and expectations.
  • Travel: 10 %
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • An active DoD Secret clearance is required to perform this work. Candidates are required to have an active Secret clearance upon hire, and the ability to maintain this level of clearance during their employment.

Education Requirements:

  • Masters Degree or 10 years experience in any science or engineering discipline.

Physical Job Requirements:

  • Ability to accomplish work while wearing PPE  (mainly laser safety goggles).

Desired Skills:

  • Semiconductor / integrated circuit design and analysis experience
  • Semiconductor / integrated circuit physical de-lidding experience
