PeopleTec is currently seeking a Human Resource Specialist to support our Huntsville, AL location.

 

We are seeking a highly organized and mission-focused Human Resources Analyst/Specialist to support a government customer in Huntsville, AL. This position provides direct support to military, government civilian, and contractor personnel by coordinating personnel actions, maintaining timekeeping systems, and managing HR-related administrative processes. The successful candidate will exercise sound judgment, professionalism, and discretion in a fast-paced environment, while supporting the daily operations of a senior-level DoD office. The role requires excellent communication and technical skills, familiarity with government HR systems and protocols, and a strong commitment to confidentiality and accuracy.

 

Duties:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for in- and out-processing of military, civilian, and contractor personnel.
  • Manage unclassified and classified MS Outlook calendars, including meetings, teleconferences, and video teleconferences.
  • Coordinate and report personnel actions, including updates to senior staff and database management.
  • Maintain and update personnel records, both classified and unclassified, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
  • Serve as organizational timekeeper in the Automated Time Attendance and Production System (ATAAPS), ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
  • Develop PowerPoint briefings, Word documents, and Excel spreadsheets for HR and administrative functions.
  • Interface with internal and external stakeholders at all levels within the Department of Defense (DoD).
  • Maintain permanent and temporary file structures to support classified and unclassified HR documentation.
  • Apply working knowledge of HR-related policies, personnel processes, and administrative procedures.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience supporting Human Resources, personnel management, or administrative operations in a military or government environment.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Experience working with HR databases, tracking tools, and government systems (e.g., TED, ATAAPS).
  • Ability to manage a dynamic workload with competing priorities and high attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated professionalism and discretion in handling personnel information and sensitive communications.
  • Ability to work effectively across diverse military, civilian, and contractor teams.
  • Must have a current driver's license.
  • Travel: Less than 10%
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Active U.S. DoD Secret clearance is required to perform this work. Candidates are required to have a Secret clearance upon hire, and the ability to maintain this clearance level during employment.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, or a related field is required.
  • An additional 6+ years of directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • A higher-level degree in a related field may be substituted for some experience.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience supporting HR functions within a government contracting or federal agency environment.
  • Familiarity with DoD HR processes, personnel action tracking, and government reporting protocols.
  • Understanding of DoD organizational structures and personnel support programs.
