Opportunity

PeopleTec is currently seeking a Systems Engineer to support our National Capital Region (Fort Belvoir, VA; Crystal City, VA; Pentagon) location.

We are seeking a mission-focused and technically skilled Systems Engineer to serve as a Subject Matter Expert for the Army Rapid Capabilities and Critical Technologies Office (RCCTO) Counter-small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-sUAS) Project Office, ultimately enabling the Joint C-sUAS Office (JCO). This role provides critical technical guidance and expertise across a portfolio of rapid prototyping and Research, Development, Test & Evaluation (RDT&E) efforts. The engineer works closely with government, military, and industry partners to support the delivery of joint C-sUAS solutions that detect, track, identify, and defeat hostile small UAS threats. This includes providing technical assessments and informing acquisition strategies for rapidly fielded capabilities. The role requires the ability to operate in a fast-paced and collaborative environment focused on experimentation, prototyping, and continuous refinement to address evolving operational demands.

Duties:

  • Provide expert technical advice and support to the Joint C-sUAS Office on all engineering aspects of C-sUAS programs and initiatives.
  • Assist in the technical evaluation of C-sUAS technologies and prototypes, including assessments of performance, maturity (TRL), and suitability for rapid fielding.
  • Support the planning and execution of C-sUAS tests, demonstrations, experiments, and prototyping events, providing technical oversight and analysis.
  • Participate in Program Management Reviews (PMRs) and other key meetings, providing technical insights and recommendations.
  • Advise on the application of Army acquisition policies, procedures, and best practices to C-sUAS RDT&E and prototyping efforts.
  • Evaluate and document system architectures, ensuring alignment with joint C-sUAS requirements and interoperability goals.
  • Prepare and deliver technical briefings, reports, and recommendations to inform acquisition strategies and fielding decisions.
  • Collaborate with government, military, and industry stakeholders to identify and resolve technical challenges.
  • Assist in the development of technical documentation supporting acquisition decisions.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 10+ years of relevant systems engineering experience, with a strong focus on DoD or Army acquisition programs.
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of Army acquisition processes (e.g., Adaptive Acquisition Framework, Acquisition Requirements Packages, etc.).
  • Demonstrated understanding of the full system development lifecycle including requirements, design, integration, and test.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess trade-offs and technical risks.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to a variety of audiences.
  • Experience collaborating in multi-disciplinary, cross-organizational teams.
  • Familiarity with C-sUAS concepts, systems, and emerging threats across the air and electromagnetic spectrum or related air defense, electronic warfare, or sensor systems.
  • Experience supporting capability demonstrations or field testing of integrated defense systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail.
  • Must have a current driver's license.
  • Travel: 25%
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must have an active DoD Secret clearance upon hire, and the ability to maintain this level of clearance during employment. TS/SCI preferred.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, computer science, or a related technical field.
  • Master’s degree preferred.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with C-sUAS or related air defense, electronic warfare, or sensor systems.
  • Familiarity with digital engineering or model-based systems engineering (MBSE) practices.
  • Understanding of Joint warfighting requirements and integration challenges.
