PeopleTec is currently seeking a Cloud Architect to support our Huntsville, AL location.

We are currently seeking an experienced Cloud Architect to lead the design, implementation, and governance of secure, scalable, and modern cloud solutions for our customers.

 

The Cloud Architect will drive architecture decisions across cloud platforms with a strong focus on security, automation, networking, and infrastructure as code. This individual will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver resilient and secure DevSecOps pipelines, cloud-native applications, and containerized environments in support of government mission systems and enterprise digital initiatives.

 

Duties:

 

  • Design and document secure cloud architectures aligned with client goals, regulatory frameworks, and zero-trust principles.
  • Architect and oversee infrastructure as code deployments using Terraform, with GitOps integrations where appropriate.
  • Lead the design and implementation of DevSecOps workflows using GitLab and Azure DevOps (ADO).
  • Establish and enforce cloud security controls, including IAM, key management, encryption, logging, and monitoring.
  • Collaborate with development and security teams to design and secure Kubernetes-based container platforms.
  • Optimize cloud networks including VNETs/VPCs, peering, DNS, service endpoints, and private link architectures.
  • Evaluate and integrate managed services across Azure, AWS, and GCP as appropriate to the project context.
  • Mentor engineering teams on cloud-native patterns, reusable modules, and secure deployment practices.
  • Contribute to compliance and authorization efforts, including documentation to support RMF and FedRAMP alignment.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Experience:

  • IAT II Certification
  • 6+ years of experience in cloud engineering or architecture roles.
  • Proven experience designing and deploying solutions on at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
  • Strong background in infrastructure as code, especially Terraform (multi-cloud experience is a plus).
  • Hands-on experience securing and architecting cloud networking, firewalls, and traffic flow patterns.
  • Working knowledge of DevSecOps pipelines and secure SDLC integration using GitLab and/or Azure DevOps.
  • Deep understanding of cloud identity and access management (IAM), policy enforcement, and logging strategies.
  • Experience with Kubernetes in production environments (AKS, EKS, or GKE).
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work in a client-facing consulting role.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • An active DoD Secret clearance is required to perform this work. Candidates are required to have an active Secret clearance upon hire, and the ability to maintain this level of clearance during their employment.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field

Desired Skills:

  • One or more cloud certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, GCP Professional Cloud Architect).
  • Advanced Security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCSP).
  • Familiarity with DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) or FedRAMP environments.
  • Experience designing or supporting zero-trust architectures or software-defined perimeters.
  • Knowledge of STIG hardening, IL5/IL6 cloud deployments, or classified enclaves is a plus.
