PeopleTec is currently seeking an Enterprise Network Engineer to support our Huntsville, AL location.

 

We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Network Engineer to join our team supporting the design, deployment, and sustainment of a next-generation digital test environment. The successful candidate will play a critical role in architecting and implementing secure, scalable, and resilient enterprise network solutions that span on-premises private cloud and public cloud infrastructure. This role requires deep technical expertise, hands-on implementation experience, and the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams to deliver a mission-critical environment for test and evaluation.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Architecture & Design
    • Contribute to the design and architecture of enterprise network infrastructure for hybrid on-prem and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
    • Support development of reference architectures, network diagrams, and deployment playbooks for private and public cloud integrations.
    • Ensure network designs align with cybersecurity, RMF, and zero-trust principles.
  • Implementation & Deployment
    • Deploy, configure, and optimize enterprise network components including firewalls, routers, switches, load balancers, and VPNs across data center and cloud environments.
    • Support deployment of secure connectivity solutions for hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
    • Implement SDN (Software Defined Networking) and container networking solutions (Kubernetes, Istio, etc.) as required.
  • Operations & Sustainment
    • Provide ongoing support for network operations, monitoring, and troubleshooting in the digital test environment.
    • Develop and maintain documentation for network configurations, procedures, and standards.
    • Ensure compliance with DoD standards, including RMF, STIGs, and CMMC.
  • Collaboration & Integration
    • Partner with system architects, DevSecOps engineers, and cloud architects to ensure seamless integration across infrastructure layers.
    • Support testbed connectivity for distributed stakeholders and mission partners.
    • Contribute to enterprise service catalog and request-fulfillment processes for network services.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise network engineering.
  • Strong expertise in network architecture and deployment in both on-premises data centers and public cloud environments.
  • Proficiency with enterprise networking technologies (Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, F5, Arista, etc.).
  • Experience with cloud networking services (VPCs, VNets, Transit Gateways, Direct Connect, ExpressRoute, etc.).
  • Familiarity with SDN, network virtualization, and container networking.
  • Working knowledge of security frameworks (Zero Trust, RMF, CMMC, NIST 800-53).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with network monitoring and diagnostic tools (Wireshark, SolarWinds, Splunk, etc.).
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Active DoD Secret clearance (or ability to obtain).

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Desired Skills:

  • DoD experience with large-scale test and evaluation or acquisition programs.
  • Expertise in automation (Ansible, Terraform, Python) for network provisioning.
  • Experience with multi-cloud interconnectivity and hybrid networking solutions.
  • Relevant certifications (CCNP/CCIE, JNCIP, AWS/Azure/GCP Cloud Networking, CISSP).

Soft Skills:

  • Strong communication skills for working with stakeholders across engineering, cybersecurity, and program management.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable designs and documentation.
  • Proactive problem-solver with the ability to balance long-term architectural vision and short-term deployment needs.
