Opportunity

PeopleTec is currently seeking a Space Sensors Principal Analyst / Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support our Huntsville, AL location.

 

The Principal Analyst / SME will support OUSW (R&E) and will be responsible for supporting the integration and coordination of space sensor programs within a joint environment utilizing the adaptive acquisition framework. The position requires deep technical expertise in space-based sensor systems combined with the ability to create strategic documents, develop charts, and prepare high-level briefs that articulate program objectives to stakeholders, senior leadership, and partner agencies. As a joint program office, the candidate will work collaboratively with other program offices across the U.S. military services, the Intelligence Community, and DoD components, ensuring alignment with overarching defense objectives. This position demands strong technical depth, organizational rigor, and the ability to synthesize complex sensor and acquisition data into actionable, concise deliverables.

Duties:

  • Serve as the principal SME for space-based sensor systems, advising government PMs and senior leaders on system capabilities, limitations, and acquisition strategies.
  • Analyze space sensor architectures, performance parameters, and data products for integration into integrated C2 and fires systems.
  • Develop and maintain strategic documents and presentation materials, including program briefs, timelines, status reports, and action plans.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior leaders from multiple services and agencies within the DoD, NRO, NGA, and MDA to gather program data and create high-quality visuals and reports.
  • Prepare and deliver briefings to leadership and stakeholders on program status, risks, milestones, and future planning efforts.
  • Support requirements development, Analysis of Alternatives (AoA), and capability gap assessments for space sensor systems.
  • Evaluate technical proposals and contractor deliverables related to space sensor programs.
  • Create and track program schedules, milestones, and key deliverables to ensure timely execution of defense initiatives across services.
  • Ensure all program documentation is maintained in an organized manner, following DoD standards for classification, filing, and version control.
  • Provide technical analysis on satellite-based phenomenology including EO/IR, SAR, SIGINT, and Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) systems.
  • Conduct program analyses and provide recommendations for improvements or adjustments based on performance and resource utilization.
  • Facilitate meetings, working groups, and events to ensure timely communication and collaboration across internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in program management, systems analysis, or technical SME roles within the Department of Defense or a related defense environment.
  • Expert knowledge of DoD budget cycles, acquisition processes, policies, and regulations, including the Adaptive Acquisition Framework (AAF).
  • Demonstrated expertise in space-based sensor systems, phenomenology, and performance analysis.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and other relevant software tools.
  • Proven ability to create high-quality charts, presentations, and reports for senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing briefings and reports for senior officials.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, manage, and prioritize multiple projects and deliverables simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage confidential and sensitive information.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • An active DoD Top Secret clearance is required to perform this work. TS/SCI clearance is preferred.

Education Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, with extensive relevant experience is required for consideration of the position.
  • A Ph.D in Astronautical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering are preferred.
  • Certification in Program Management (e.g., PMP, DAWIA Level I or higher) is highly desirable.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience working in the Pentagon and with Joint Program Offices, NRO, NGA, or MDA program offices is highly desired.
  • Previous experience in and knowledge of Space Development Agency, Space Systems Command, Joint Air & Missile Defense or Space Domain Awareness (SDA) programs.
  • Experience with MATLAB/ Simulink, ENVI/ERDAS Imagine, OPIR, SAR, EO/IR, or SIGINT satellite systems and associated data exploitation.
  • Experience with tracking algorithms using 2-dimensional inputs; and assessing LOS Errors from IR satellites.
  • Experience with middle tier of acquisition and software acquisition pathways.
  • Familiarity with Space Force/Army coordination frameworks and space-based targeting and BDA applications.
  • Expertise in risk management, EVMS, and program performance assessment.
