Opportunity

PeopleTec is currently seeking a Mid-Level Exportability Engineer to support our Huntsville, AL location.

The candidate will serve as a Mid-Level Exportability Engineer within a Project Management Office (PMO) within PAE Fires and will be responsible for providing technical support to the program's Chief Engineer and the Product Manager. The candidate will be responsible for the technical suitability, feasibility, and requirements analysis for integrating exportability features into advanced defense systems. The candidate will bridge system architecture with Technology Security and Foreign Disclosure (TSFD) policy, performing the engineering assessments required to protect U.S. technologies (Anti-Tamper) while defining viable configurations for allied partners, and will provide technical expertise to help stand up, scope, and evaluate new DEF studies for future programs entering the exportability pipeline. The candidate will prepare and present exportability engineering findings, reports, and improvement plans to senior management and stakeholders. Will work within and/or lead a multidisciplinary team to achieve program goals. Perform other tasks as assigned by the Chief Engineer and/or Product Manager.

The candidate will be required to interface with internal PMs across PAE Fires and external organizations to include HQDA, ASA(ALT), OUSD(A&S), NIPO, DASA-DEC, SAF/IA, ATEC, AMCOM, and others for coordination and synchronization of exportability engineering technical and programmatic objectives.

Duties:

  • Provide technical support and leadership in exportability engineering across the system lifecycle (design, development, acquisition, integration, testing, fielding, and sustainment).
  • Conduct comprehensive audits of baseline system architectures to identify Critical Program Information (CPI), advanced algorithms, and cutting-edge hardware susceptible to reverse engineering.
  • Assist in standing up additional DEF studies by conducting preliminary technical evaluations, defining initial engineering task scope, and estimating the technical feasibility of export modifications for new weapon systems.
  • Investigate and define high-level conceptual approaches for protecting sensitive technologies, including strategies for system modularity that allow hardware substitution or software modulation in export variants.
  • Architect conceptual export variants based on TSFD assessments, and evaluate these variants to ensure they meet required performance metrics while satisfying U.S. export security criteria.
  • Use modeling and simulation to assess how proposed DEF modifications, such as altered guidance code or added AT hardware, will impact a system's baseline kinematic performance, weight, and operational lethality.
  • Draft validated CPI and Critical Component Matrices and High-Level AT and Modularity Strategies, and support the technical drafting of formal foreign release documentation, such as Exception to the National Disclosure Policy (ENDP) Position Papers.
  • Ensure compliance with defense and industry standards by managing exportability engineering processes effectively.
  • Interface with internal teams and external organizations to coordinate exportability engineering objectives and strategies.
  • Prepare and present exportability engineering findings, reports, and improvement plans to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Conduct strategic planning and coordination to support program objectives.
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership to peer and subordinate engineers within the exportability engineering team.
  • Use digital tools and methodologies to manage cost, schedule, and performance for assigned activities.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Chief Engineer and/or Product Manager.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience. Additional education may be substituted for years of experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in exportability engineering, particularly within defense or aerospace industries.
  • Working knowledge of Anti-Tamper (AT) principles, reverse engineering mitigation, and Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA).
  • Experience with complex weapon systems, Counter-UAS (C-UAS) architectures, or advanced sensor/seeker integration.
  • Proficiency with modeling and simulation tools used to assess kinematics and system performance impacts.
  • Ability to translate complex TSFD and security requirements into actionable hardware and software engineering designs.
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards and defense requirements.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to lead and work within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Previous experience working in a U.S. Government Program Office (required).
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • An active DoD clearance: Secret, with the ability to obtain TS/SCI.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
